How to test your vibe-coded web app before launch

A practical checklist for web apps built with Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Replit or Claude Code: what to check yourself, then how to get real testers.

Why AI-built apps need testing

AI tools are great at building something that works on the happy path: you click the buttons in the order you expect, on your own laptop. Real people don't. They use small phones, slow connections, the back button and empty forms.

Half an hour of checking before you share your link saves you from the first impression that matters most: a new user who hits a blank screen and never comes back.

Check it yourself first

Open your live link (not the preview inside your AI tool) and go through this list:

  1. Open it on a phone. Can you read everything without zooming, and tap every button with a thumb?
  2. Sign up as a brand-new user with a fresh email. Does the first screen make sense without any data?
  3. Submit every form empty, then with nonsense. You should see a clear message, not a crash or a blank page.
  4. Refresh the page in the middle of a task. Is your work still there?
  5. Use the browser's back button on every screen.
  6. Sign out, then try to open a page that should need sign-in. You should be sent to sign in, not shown someone's data.
  7. Turn on a slow connection in your browser's developer tools. Do buttons show they're working, or can you click them twice?

Check what users can't see

Search your code for API keys and passwords. Secret keys belong in your host's environment variables, never in the code that runs in the browser.

If you use Supabase or Firebase, make sure row-level security or security rules are on, so one user can't read or change another user's data.

Look for links to localhost or test servers that only worked on your machine.

Then get fresh eyes

You can't un-know how your app works, so you'll always use it the right way. People who've never seen it find the confusing screens and broken flows in minutes.

Post your web app on VibeYoung with a short list of what to check, and other builders try it live and tell you what to fix, with screenshots and steps. Testing their apps in return earns credits.
