Cookie policy
Last updated 30 September 2026
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. VibeYoung uses as few as it can. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you allow them. This page is part of our Privacy policy.
Necessary
The site can't work without these, so they are always on.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| vy_session | Keeps you signed in. | 30 days |
| vy_consent | Remembers your cookie choice. | 180 days |
| vy_oauth_*, vy_gh_state | Protect Google, GitHub and GitHub-app sign-in from forgery. | A few minutes |
| vy_ref | Remembers who invited you, so the invite counts when you sign up. | 30 days |
| vy_src | Remembers how you first found us (for example a newsletter link, or the site that linked here). No personal data. | 30 days |
Your settings
These only remember choices you make yourself, in the footer or in Settings.
| Cookie | What it does | Lasts |
|---|---|---|
| vy_theme | Light, dark or match your device. | 1 year |
| vy_locale | English or Kiswahili. | 1 year |
| vy_data_saver | Data saver on or off. | 1 year |
Your browser also keeps a note of which sign-in method you used last, so we can mark it. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.
Analytics (only if you allow it)
PostHog, hosted in the EU, tells us which pages are used so we can improve them. It loads only after you choose Accept all or turn analytics on, and then sets its own ph_* cookie for up to a year. Session recording is switched off, and the text you type into forms is never collected.
Visit counts (no cookies)
Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page visits and loading speed. It sets no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you to other sites.
Advertising (Free plan, only if you allow it)
- Google AdSense cookies are set only when you allow advertising cookies. Without them, ads are still shown but not personalised.
- Members under 18 never see personalised ads, whatever they choose.
- Plus and Pro have no ads.
Security checks
Cloudflare may set a short security cookie to block bots. It's needed to provide the service.
Changing your mind
Use the Cookie choices button above or in the footer at any time. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings; you will then be signed out.
